What is Route Return & Shipping Protection, and why do I need it?

Route’s Return & Shipping Protection offers shoppers the option to pay a small fee up front to avoid larger return and restocking fees later, in partnership with select brands and retailers. And as always, Route Shipping Protection will replace or refund an item that is lost, stolen, or damaged in transit.

How can I purchase Route Return & Shipping Protection?
Route Return & Shipping Protection is currently offered at select participating brands and retailers. It can be added to your order at checkout for a small fee. 

What does Return & Shipping Protection do? Why do I need it?
Brands and retailers may charge a variety of fees when customers return items, including fees to restock the items, fees for the return label, handling fees related to order fulfillment, and other fees for returning an item. These may be flat fees or priced individually for each item returned. These fees can quickly add up, depending on the brand or retailer’s policies. 

Route Return & Shipping Protection helps make returns easy and inexpensive by offering customers the option to pay a small flat fee upfront to avoid these heftier fees later. 

How is this different from Route Shipping Protection?
Route Shipping Protection covers orders that are lost, stolen, or damaged in transit, and makes it easy to resolve the issue in a few quick steps. Returns are for circumstances when your item arrives in good condition, but you've decided you no longer want it. 

How am I refunded?
Once the return process is complete, you will receive a refund, store credit, store gift card, or other option, according to the brand or retailer’s return policy, for the price of the item(s) you returned. Please consult the policy listed on their website for more details.

Kindly note you will not be refunded for the cost of Route’s Return & Shipping Protection, nor any shipping charges from the original order. 

How do I make a return with Route Returns & Shipping Protection?
To start a return, visit the brand or retailer’s website and follow the instructions provided. Or, click here and select the option “I want to return this item.” You will be taken directly to the brand’s website to start a return according to their policies and procedures.

How long do I have to make a return?
You must file for a return within the brand or retailer’s policy guidelines, listed on their website. Purchasing Route Returns & Shipping Protection does not affect the brand’s returns deadlines or policies.

How long does the return process take?

Are there any situations where I cannot return my order/item?

Route Shipping Protection only applies to the initial order, not on the return order shipped back to the brand or retailer.
